Updates

Our club members are enjoying a beautiful day and wonderful views, standing in front of the radar tower on top of Mount Umunhum.

The theme of our meeting was summertime. People talked about everything from travel to ice cream. Is was great fun. Welcome to the guests! Hope to see everyone next time.

Our 39th Anniversary party was a great success. Thanks to Paula for running a fun table topic session and Burhan for the Improv games. We had two presidents in attendance, past president, Erdy, and current president, Christine.

About us

We focus on improving communication skills, such as speaking and meeting management. We do this through prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, oral evaluations, and various meeting roles. Some skills that get developed are listening, delivering constructive feedback, time management, organization, and preparation. We are a friendly, supportive group, so it's a great learning environment in which to improve your skills.

When do you meet?

We meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Visit us at meetup for upcoming meeting dates:

What is a meeting like?

A typical Switch On meeting includes one or two prepared speeches by members, followed by Table Topics (impromptu speaking session that guests can also participate in), Evaluations (verbal feedback and suggestions of each speech), and reports (such as Ah counter, Timer, and Grammarian).

What should I expect if I decided to join?

The following are some of the benefits of being a club member:
  • You proceed at your own pace
  • Learn as you go!
  • You start to build confidence in your ability to speak in public.
  • Get support from fellow members – all you need to do is ask for it
  • You can begin to practice leadership

How Much Does it Cost?

Switch On Toastmasters collects dues of $51 every 6 months. Dues cover the Toastmasters International curriculum and our supplies. If you are not yet a Toastmaster,  there is an additional charge of $20. You only have to pay this new member fee once per lifetime. We accept credit cash or check.
